I've been working on my crazy journal and have completed 2 entries so far. My character's name is Elinor. She is the only female ward member and has Bipolar Disorder. Therefore, every other entry she will be either excited and happy and uplifted; likewise, in the other entries, she will treat the diary as a last will and testament because she will be depressed and angry.
So far, I am making good progress. Being either emotion has not proved challenging yet. (Is that a good thing?? lol)

Father of the Emoticon
Exactly 26 years ago, on September 19, 1982, a man by the name of Scott Fahlman posted the very first emoticon into a computer-science department bulletin board for Carnegie Mellon University. His post went like so:
"19-Sep-82 11:44 Scott E Fahlman
From: Scott E Fahlman
I propose that the following character sequence for joke markers:
:-)
Read it sideways. Actually, it is probably more economical to mark things that are NOT jokes, given current trends. For this, use:
:-( "
Thus, he was named as the emoticon originator. He came up with these two ASCII-based faces to make it easier to understand the mood of a scientific post. Without them, scientists were misunderstanding humor, and finding seriousness funny.

RSS Feed: Useful Things
When choosing RSS Feeds for my Tech High Start Page, I originally looked for things I was interested in like DeviantArt, Nintendo (news), and even Tokyo Pop. But, when the new Bess decided to hate on me, I was forced to search for things like Gmail, CNN, ABC News, the weather, and Digg. Pretty much I was forced to search for news feeds. Maybe later I'll add more interesting feeds. For now, I am stuck with useful things.
These aren't all bad. At least now I can be more up to date with the world today. Positive thinking, I always say. With Gmail, I have a god shortcut to my e-mail, with CNN and ABC, I have ample world news, and with Digg, I get to know what interesting things the world is talking about today.
